We work with Eden Reforestation to plant 2 trees with every product sold at Enchanted Eco, how amazing is that? The trees we plant support wild life diversity, improve coastlines, provide meaningful wages to indigenous population and grow Mangrove trees which are an incredible carbon sink. Mangroves are unique ecosystems found throughout a wide range in the tropics and occupying the intertidal areas of more than 120 countries. Mangroves, and coastal wetlands in general, are globally important for the many services they provide to humans and the planet. These services include protection against storm surges, sheltering nurseries for fish and other marine life, providing building materials, firewood, and providing critically important services to stabilizing the global climate as an important store of carbon.

Mangroves, an incredible carbon sink:

‍With the rapid increase in greenhouse gas emissions over the last century, the need for enduring carbon sinks has grown. The latest models suggest that to remain within “acceptable” global temperature increase, it is no longer enough to simply reduce emissions, and protect existing forests, but rather that we need to rapidly increase the ability to sequester carbon. Globally, mangrove systems are estimated to hold an astounding 20 petagrams of carbon. For a biome representing less than 5% of the world’s terrestrial area, this makes mangroves one of the most important carbon stocks, even more than many rainforests like the Amazon. Equally, as a relatively fast-growing group of species, mangroves sequester carbon at a very fast rate.

Help support wildlife and diversity:

‍As forests are destroyed, wildlife species lose their natural habitat, forcing them to relocate, limiting their ability to survive. Madagascar is one of the world’s greatest conservation priorities, with over 200 species of mammals, 100 species of lemurs, 300 species of birds, and almost 300 species of amphibians. Around ninety percent of all wildlife in Madagascar is endemic. Our work with Eden protects these wildlife species in Madagascar by restoring their natural habitats.

What does carbon neutral mean?

When we say orders will be “carbon neutral” (“net zero” is another term you’ll hear), that means that we will eliminate, capture, or otherwise mitigate all of the carbon emissions created from making Enchanted Eco products and shipping them to your door.

What on Earth is a carbon offset?

Carbon offsets are a practical and effective way to reduce the effects of climate change by funding renewable energy, forestry, or clean water projects. These projects reduce emissions of carbon dioxide or other greenhouse gases in order to compensate for emissions made elsewhere, like the emissions created from ordering something online.

How do I know my money is going to the right place?

We have scoured the globe for carbon offset projects that are truly additive, new, permanent, and without unintended consequences, such as creating more carbon elsewhere, like a game of Whack-a-Mole. All of our projects are independently certified to internationally recognized standards. In addition to the carbon reduction, we pride ourselves on the fact that all of our projects include an element of social good such as protecting an endangered species of animal, or creating local jobs.  

 Every project we will fund is triple-verified, which means:

1.   The project’s financials, management team, project site, and carbon reduction method are carefully vetted.

2. At least one of the world’s major carbon standards reviews the project.

3.  Global Offset Research verifies the project against a second list of international standards.

How does a carbon offset project work?

When you buy an offset, you fund projects that reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions like protecting forests or building wind farms. Carbon offsets let you pay to reduce the global GHG total instead of making radical or impossible reductions of your own.

But not all carbon offset projects are created equal. EcoCart's projects offer laboratory and field testing with third-party verification and site visits to ensure the most accurate calculation of greenhouse gas reductions. These credits are measured in metric tons (tonnes) of carbon dioxide equivalents (mtCO₂e). EcoCart then evaluates the implementation of the methodology and confirms that the project uses the majority of the proceeds from carbon for growth and not profit.

 

 

 

 

Tree planting has been core to our mission but our vision has been to help the planet in any way we can and that's why we are excited to launch Ocean Bound Plastic Removal as another impact category.

Stopping plastic from within 30 miles of an ocean bound waterway reduces its likelihood from flowing into the ocean. This in turn helps to protect marine life, microorganisms, and endangered species from plastic pollution.

 Each step in the plastics life cycle - extraction, transport, manufacture and disposal - emits massive amounts of greenhouse gases, mostly CO2.

Through our removal efforts, ocean bound plastics will be turned into plastic feedstock which enables a circular economy and reduces need for virgin plastic material thereby reducing CO2 emissions. Plastic feedstock is the raw material used to make plastic products.
